Dateno Gyutan Honpo offers a wide variety of seasonal dishes prepared with farm produce and seafood sourced locally in Miyagi. As well as traditional beef tongue cuisine we offer dishes made with shark fin, Sendai Beef, Harako-meshi (Japanese mixed rice topped with salmon and its roe), hoya (sea squirt), bamboo-leaf-shaped fish cake and zundamochi (edamame bean paste with rice cakes).

Our signature dish and one of our most popular, Shintan beef set menu is made with generous thick slices of shintan, considered to be the most tender part of the tongue. Tender shintan preserves the inherent chewy texture of the tongue and comes with a delicious flavorsome salty gravy that is sure to get your taste buds working.

A popular local beef tongue variant from Sendai, available in a choice of flavors: salty, miso, and salt-miso combination. The standard salty version accentuates the inherent flavor of beef tongue, while the delicious miso version is made to our own special recipe, and both feature the mouth-watering charcoal-grilled flavor sensation.
